Oh The Reality Of It

Couple Alex/Amanda GONE!! February 29, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — karaleet @ 1:13 pm

It’s a shame that Alex and Amanda got voted off with a vote of 3-0 on Big Brother, simply because I thought that Alex could of had a better partner. Amanda was beginning to get on my nerves just a little bit. I did feel for her when she had to go to the hospital, but her overall attitude during the game was a bit much. She opened up too early to people she didn’t really know well and I believe it to be an attention grabbing tactic, which she performed over several episodes. Anyway, enough with the rant, Alex deserved batter, but upon interview he took it as it was and didn’t place the entire blame on Amanda. He manned up to the situation and should be admired for that.

After all was said and done, the couples then competed for the next HOH. The competition was called “Words of Love” and players had to match the author with the quote based on the saying posted around the Big Brother house. In an amazing win, Sharon kicked butt against the girls, answering all the questions correctly thus eliminating them Once the guys were up, Ryan eliminated himself by getting his answer wrong, but then Joshuah came through for his team and won against the rest of the guys. So all in all, Sharon/Joshuah have become the new HOH couple. I wonder who they’ll put up for eviction. My prediction is that Ryan/Allison and Shelia/Adam will be put up. But who know, tune in on Sunday to find out, or of course read my blog thereafter for the lowdown!!

Emergencies on BB February 26, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — karaleet @ 8:43 pm

Tonight’s Big Brother episode was one of doctor related emergencies. Both Amanda and Allison were admitted to the hospital for hypoglycemia and an allergic reaction, respectively. Luckily both incidents occurred around the same time so the nurse who was helping Allison was able to attend to Amanda when she collapsed because of a lack of sugar. Both girls came back to the house once they were treated and should continue to play the game, unless of course Amanda/Alex find themselves evicted. It’s odd to think that it took medical problems to actually bring the house back together and realize that they are only playing a game and that things that are said to each other are only part of that. Between the fighting and backstabbing that is going on, I found it sort of enlightening that they actually came together to help Amanda and Allison.

Before all of the medical stuff went down the veto competition took place, with Joshuah/Sharon taking the win. With the win, players were also allowed to read clips from the news headlining American society, including both political and entertainment agendas. At the end of the show, the veto holders decided to respect the HOH couple decision and let the nominations stand. I am really rooting for Matt/Natalie to stay and Alex/Amanda to leave because they are really starting to annoy me. All Alex does is complain that Amanda is sabotaging them while Amanda continues to be Amanda. We’ll have to see what tomorrow night brings and how the house votes!!

Bye Bye Alex and Amanda?? February 25, 2008

With James/Chelsia in charge, they both informed Matt/Natalie that they were safe and would not be nominated this week for eviction. However at the end of the night, Alex/Amanda and Matt/Natalie were both put on the block. James/Chelsia claimed that the only reason that they wanted Matt/Natalie on was so that they could win the veto and take themselves off. That they were only put up there so that Alex/Amanda would not win and therefore be voted out. Matt/Natalie, obviously, were not very happy with this deception and Matty vowed revenge on James for taking back his word.

Surprisingly, when Alison and Shelia “came out” that they were in fact not a lesbian couple to Joshuah and Chelsia, it didn’t stir up too many emotions in the people who were lied to. Yes they were not impressed that they were lied to but I guess James/Chelsia decided to take on the bigger target, Alex and Amanda, rather than the little ones who lied to stir things up… Oh well, we’ll see who wins the veto on Tuesday. Hopefully Matt/Natalie just so that they take themselves off the block as I am really warming up to them as a team.

The Story So Far… February 22, 2008

Big Borther has now been on for almost 2 weeks and there has already been some drama started!! The first power couple, Jen and Parker, evicted Sharon and Jacob on the second episode. Then the very first head of household competition crowned Alex and Amanda with the power to nominate 2 other couples for eviction. Before their descision was made Jen/Parker and Ryan/Alison were going at it because the other three believed that Alison was going to spill the beans to the other housemates that Jen and Ryan were a real life couple to save her own behind. Instead Jen/Parker told everyone and it backfired. Alex/Amanda nominated both these teams for the reason that they would be too powerful. In the last episode, airing Wednesday February 20, the houseguests, with a vote of 3-1 evicted Jen/Parker. When Julie was interviewing them at the end, Parker did not seem impressed with his situation at all. He probablt blaims the whole thing on Jen, which he could very well get away with as she was not the best team player. I guess we’ll have to see how the new HOH couple, James/Chelsia manage. I really do not know who they’ll put up… UMMMM!

America’s Next Top Model began on Wednesday as well. Here 35 girls went through “Top Model Prep” in order to decide who will become the final 13 girls competeing towards the title. In the end, Tyra took 14 girls because it was such a hard descision. We shall see how this season goes with the mix of girls in the running: punkish, granola, quiet, and out-going!! Here we go!!

Big Brother: ‘Till Death Do You Part February 12, 2008

The first episode of the Big Brother winter season kicked off tonight on Global and The CW. It was revealed that all participants are single and all are looking for love. The women were sent into the house first, the men followed. While everyone was getting to know each other it was revealed to viewers that Jen and Ryan are a real life couple competing without letting the other players know that they are together. Also, Sharon and Jacob are exes who are already arguing in the house. It was revealed that Jacob cheated on Sharon therefore forcing her to break things off, so obviously there is some animosity towards Jacob. Not many people know about this situation, but I am sure that it will come out sooner or later.

Julie then went on to pair each person up with their “soul mate”. This partnership was determined by personalty testing that was carried out prior to choosing the final house guests. This is a rundown of who is paired with who: Alex/Amanda, James/Chelsia, Natalie/Matt, Jen/Parker, Joshuah/Neil, Jacob/Sharon, Ryan/Allison, and Shelia/Adam. As soon as Shelia and Adam were announced to be a couple, she went nuts. She kept on saying that he’s not her type and a general bashing of the poor guy followed. She did not hold back even when he was standing right beside her. I really think that this is one couple that should not last simply based on the fact that she is so conceited and rude to Adam that he deserves better than to compete along side her.

Julie did kick off the first competition tonight with the very first “Power Couple” being awarded with $10 000. The game was called “Falling for You” and couples were suspended above beds and the last couple to remain hanging won. Jen and Parker made a deal with Natalie and Matt that they would not kick them out if they themselves dropped. Jen and Parker were announced winners and now have a couple hours to decide who they want to evict right off the bat. The first episode of the season was a real hum-ding-er. It should be exciting to see how the season progresses and how each couple gets along. I can see a twist being that the couples are switched up near the middle. Wow, what a show!!

Tune in Wednesday, February 13 to see who Jen and Parker evict!!

Tuesday’s the “BIG” Day February 10, 2008

BIG BROTHER is finally on. For those fans who cannot get enough of this show, the new season premiers this Tuesday!! Yes Tuesday, as in 2 more sleeps!! Looking at the official CBS website, I got an inkling that this could be a very interesting season. There is only 1 person over the age of 35, which makes for some people possibly initiating a BB romance. Perhaps?? There are 2 gay men which could very well cause some drama, but drama on BB is nothing new and openly welcomed, in my books anyway.

As for who I think will win this thing, I cannot make a rational judgement based simply on their profiles. I am thinking that I will pick favorites as the show progresses. However, as last season went on, my favorites changed. It ended up that my 2 least favorite people (the father and daughter team) were the final 2. I liked them to begin with, but I did not agree with the way they played the game. Anyway, this winter season should be for some good TV.

Vera Wang + Serta February 7, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — karaleet @ 8:39 pm

With the merge of Vera Wang with Serta mattresses the live window presentations presented a way to display this exciting, yet unusual collaboration. Hydra may have been more creative with bringing Cleopatra into play, however I thought that their presentation was a little drab. True as it may be that they were promoting both the mattress and the elegance that is Vera, if I were to walk by I really do not think that it would have interested me enough to stop and take a look. The window the women put together was more romantic in the sense that it was a love affair, a marriage. Their window was more comforting, not as bare as the men’s.

In the end Hydra wins – again – and Empresario has to go to the boardroom. This is where The Donald finally gets his way, unlike with Gene as Project Manager. Omarosa initally wanted to bring Stephen in, however after a little push from Trump, she brought Marilu and Nelly back. Trump finally had the chance to fulfill is goal of firing Nelly and jumped at the chance. I personally believe that Omarosa knew what he was up to and brought her back simply to save her own behind. No matter, it was an interesting episode. Till next time…

Cycle 10 Girls February 6, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — karaleet @ 4:12 pm

So I was looking through the rough profiles of the new sets of girls competing to become America’s Next Top Model and several of them stood out to me. Here is a slight breakdown of first impressions based strictly on their pictures on The CW website.

Dominique is a 23 year old receptionist. She appears to have some modeling experience, although I do not know for sure. Her facial features are really strong, in which I am sure Tyra picked up on when choosing her for the show. She does have a “model-esque” body and may do well in the competition picture-wise.

Katarzyna is 22 years old and works in finance. She is a beautiful woman who may go far in this competition as she does possess the body of a model. She does have the sultry look down pat in the pictures I see, so I will be interested to see how she can manage a more natural look if she gets that far on the show.

Whitney is a 20 year old student (woot woot!!). She stands out for me in the fact that she does not have the same body shape as most of the other wannabe top models. She actually looks human in the fact that she is not a string bean. She has the body that any girl should swoon over. As far as the competition goes, Tyra will allow her to continue (if not for the ratings) because she can act as an inspiration for young girls. I bet she takes amazing pictures, both serious and not.

It looks like Tyra Banks fans (or not) will get to see her make an average girl into a superstar, well a model anyway.

America’s Next Top Model is back for Cycle 10 beginning on February 20 airing on The CW. Check out some of the contestents this season as I profile them in the upcoming weeks. Hopefully this cycle will be like last where one of my top 3 girls actually wins!! How exciting!!
