Oh The Reality Of It

You know you can’t get away from it!!

Yeah, Empresario!! January 31, 2008

At the end of the 2 hour episode of Celebrity Apprentice, the women pulled off a win for the first time in 4 weeks. To be honest, their campaign was better presented to the clients and they had a more appealing display of both the product and campaign purpose.

The purpose of this challenge was to raise awareness of the new recycling campaign that the Crocscompany is bringing into effect. The background is this: bring in your old shoes, drop them into a bin, they in turn get recycled into new footwear that is then donated to those in need. What an awesome concept that both helps the less fortunate, but also makes the company more money.

Now to the drama of the show. Piers sent Vinny in as a “spy”. He then became a “double agent” so to speak as he began to see through Piers’ deception technique. In the end, the women didn’t want him, the men didn’t want him (well Piers did not for sure!!) and Vinny was left out in the cold. When the boardroom segment came along, there were several arguments surrounding the incident and after it was declared that the women had won, Vinny said that he “resigned”, but recoiled that he would indeed stay if Piers was fired in his place. Back and forth, back and forth, in the end The Donald did accept the resignation and Vinny is out of the running. This is unfortunate as Piers is really getting on my nerves, however he is a good player and will get the team further than if it were left up to the Sopranos actor. Till next week…

Big Brother Begins January 30, 2008

February 12 is the day when it all begins…again!! How exciting, eh?? BB9 just finished choosing the cast and Julie Chen will announce, as she did last year, on The Early Show the cast biographies. This announcement will occur 9 days before the first airing of the show. With the theme being rumored to be “dirty little secrets”, there are many speculations as to whom and what will happen this season. This could get ugly. Awesome!!

This is the first season that has been shot in “winter”, so it should be interesting. But really, how cold in winter when the show is shot in California?? The women will be in skimpy bathing attire and the men will be shirtless. Nonetheless, CBS says that there will be the normal summer season airing in the summer, with auditions beginning in May.

To all those Big Brother fans, remember to tune in on Tuesday, February 12 for the first episode of BB9, and see who will be living together and reeking havoc on everyone in the house!!

Why can’t the women pull it together?? January 25, 2008

It was a good task to take on as many of the celebrities on The Apprentice are in showbusiness and know what it takes to sell tickets. Several of them are in broadway themselves (ie. The Team Leaders: Pastore and Henner). With this sort of task, the celebrities are able to use their “celebrity” and connections to raise enough money in support of the charities.

Wow, I cannot believe that Morgan was actually at the top of his game this time. On the other episodes, it seemed like Baldwin was getting all the glory and taking the riegns. Finally someone else is stepping up and using their star power to win a challenge for Hydra. However, when Baldwin and Morgan were arguing I figured that the men would finally fail at the task. It does appear that they are letting their egos get in the way of completing the tasks, however, they were 3-0 at the beginning of the episode and by the end: 4-0. The women lose yet again.

Despite the fact that Jenny was one of my favorite women on the team, Trump did make the right call in firing her as her expertise just wasn’t cut out for the competiviness of the Apprentice. She does have a better knack for competing in sports rather than in business.

(Oops, forgot to post this when I was finished…but enjoy!)

Oh Yeah: TK and Rachel!! January 21, 2008

The winners of Amazing Race 12 are one of the few teams that I actually wanted to win. TK and Rachel (the “hippies”) played the game in a calm and cool manner which many of the other teams did not. They pulled off an extra task they needed to complete after coming in last in a non-elimination leg thus putting them in the final 3 with Ron and Christina, and Nick and Don.

Tk and Rachel

At the beginning of the final episode aired tonight the winning team began 45 minutes after Ron and Chris who started off in first place. They continued to be in first and it was looking like they were going to be the winners, however at the Roadblock, Rachel pulled out a win and got things rolling. She completed the memory task before her competitors and the rest is history.

Out of these top three teams, it was awesome to see that a 68 year old man beat out those who were stronger, younger, and faster than he. He was the oldest person to ever be in the final 3 in the history of Amazing Race. Ron and Chris proved to themselves that as a father and daughter they could accomplish anything if they worked together. In the end, TK and Rachel pulled it together through calm motivation and steady composure throughout the race to win Amazing Race 12.

So ‘Hyda’ Wins Yet Again January 18, 2008

So I was watching The Apprentice tonight and yet again was hoping that the girls team (aka Empresario) would finally pull off a win. Beings as the task had to do with Kodak and taking pictures and printing them off, naturally I assumed that the women would come through. However, at the end of the show, the men’s team (aka Hydra) managed to meet the clients wishes about promoting the ink portion of the Easyshare printer and thus sent the women (including their project manager: Gene Simmons) to the boardroom.

Once in the boardroom I could not believe how Gene acted. He was soooo arrogant and annoying. He kept on saying that the Kodak clients were wrong and that he was right in what he had done for the team. He kept on digging himself a bigger and bigger hole, and he may as well have jumped in because he eventually got the boot. This was to be expected as he brought back with him the two most unlikely people to get fired: Omarosa (who is annoying herself, but did nothing wrong this episode) and Jennie (one of the low key players). Trump himself kept trying to get Gene to bring Nely back with him, but Gene was not having it. Maybe he wanted to get fired?? I don’t know, but what I do know is that one of the most successful and charismatic businessman was fired tonight on Celebrity Apprentice. Hopefully the women can come around and beat Hyda next week…..
